Sustainability in action - the little ways Enable are 'Getting their Green on'!

Enable’s most recent social and environmental impact statement reports Enable have diverted over 133,000kgs of tech from landfill whilst supporting hundreds of local disadvantaged community with employability skills each year.

Aside from Enable’s significant social and environmental impact delivered at the accredited recycling facility in Broadmeadows, there are a number of smaller sustainability-driven initiatives that also give us something to cheer about.

Pre-loved technology and parts get a new life and a TV modelling career

From the e-waste pile to TV stardom! Unwanted gems like these Mac classics and parts from old recycled tech are having another life being REUSED in local TV productions.

Wheels from large printers and old pallets get a new life as outdoor furniture

This REUSE and REPUPOSE initiative see the wheels from printers and broken pallets from Enable are now living a new life as outdoor furniture! This initiative adds to the tremednous impact created through Enable’s partnership with Dept of Justice and Community Safety Community Work Program, Derrimut and the Greener Futures Employability Program.

Pallet wood and old monitor stands get a new lift as signs.

The Enable crew, always on the look-out to REUSE and REPURPOSE, grabbed old pallet wood and monitor stands heading for the recycling stream and now dozens of these items are living another life as signs at Enable’s recycling enterprise.

Managing Director, Julie McKay says “we are very proud of our growing number of small, innovative sustainability initiatives in the repair, reuse and repurposing space… my favourite so far is pre-loved tech getting a TV modelling career, I just love it!”

Enable are a trusted Social Enterprise, Australian registered charity and not-for-profit and accredited technology recycler. Technology is ethically recycled and 100% of profits from donated equipment are invested in the charity to deliver vital hands on Employability skills to hundreds of local disadvantaged community each year.
